Bihar has the highest rate of Child Marriage in India. According to research by International Center for Research on Women national average for prevalence of child marriage in India is 47%. However, this increases to 60% in Bihar.

Bihar ranks second in the country after Uttar Pradesh in dowry death cases according to National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB). A total of 987 women were killed for dowry, and 4852 incidents of harassment for dowry were reported for Bihar in 2016.
